Almost everything we do involves water, one of the world’s most crucial resources. That’s why sustainability is a natural part of everything we do, every day. We consider the whole picture, taking into account social, economic, and environmental aspects throughout the entire journey – from the idea stage to when our products are used in our customers’ daily lives.

Our Focus Areas
Sustainable business requires work on multiple dimensions and levels. We aim to develop more sustainable products, make responsible purchases, minimise our own environmental footprint, and prioritise an attractive and safe working environment for our employees. We operate based on three focus areas aligned with the UN’s 17 global goals, prioritizing the six goals we see as most important and impactful for us.
Our Sustainability Strategy
Our business idea is to “offer strong brands with a WOW factor that customers are willing to pay a little extra for.” A central component of this business idea is our strong focus on sustainability, which is one of our five strategic cornerstones. Our ambition is to be recognized as a leader in product sustainability in our main markets and to act responsibly while continuously reducing our environmental impact throughout the value chain.

1) Within the group, we divide our products into the three ranges Good, Better and Best based on a sustainability perspective. The classification is based on the products’ energy classification, material content and certification.
2) Emissions generated in the group excluding Aqua Invent i Lomma AB, Aqualla Brassware Ltd and Guangzhou Ostnor Sanitary Ware Ltd where data is missing. The scope is Scope 1 and 2 as well as freight transport in accordance with the GHG protocol’s Scope 3 category 4 (https://www.ghgprotocol.org/). The reduction is calculated on the total emissions in relation to sales volume.
Ecovadis
In 2024, FM Mattsson Group received a silver ranking from Ecovadis, placing us among the top 13% in sustainability within our segment of the global manufacturing industry.
Sustainability Throughout the Value Chain
We work with sustainability throughout our entire value chain and try to identify areas where we can have a positive impact on people and the environment.
How We Work
Our sustainability work is comprehensive and involves many aspects. We strive to focus on areas where we have significant direct or potential impact, by annually assessing and analysing the risks and opportunities, as well as through dialogue with our stakeholders.
Reducing Climate Change
We support the 1.5 °C target and the EU’s climate goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Here are some examples of how we work:

- We help our customers reduce their water and energy consumption, for example through cold start and by designing taps that save water.
- We constantly seek and find improved methods for manufacturing in our factory in Mora to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions.
- We reduce carbon dioxide emissions from our transportation by optimizing deliveries, reducing the use of air transport, minimizing staff travel, and using more environmentally smart modes of transport.
Reduction of CO₂ Emissions
In 2023 we reduced CO2-emissions from goods transports to our facilities with 6 percent which equals 56 tonnes CO2e.
Water – A Vital Resource
There is a water shortage in large parts of the world, and according to the United Nations, it will worsen in the coming decades, not least in Europe.
- In our factory in Mora, we use water from our own wells, primarily for cooling and chroming processes. Consumption is monitored monthly.
- All wastewater is treated in our sewage treatment plant before being released into a nearby stream. The treated water is monitored through daily internal analyses and monthly external analyses.
The most significant impact is achieved by working towards better solutions so that our customers can reduce their water consumption.
- In recent years, we have developed touchless taps. Many of them can be connected to a digital water measurement and control system to increase awareness and control consumption through temperature, flow and other parameters
- We assist our customers in adapting products and water flows to save water
Our workplaces, meetings, external conferences and training courses are free of bottled water.
Products with Less Environmental Impact
Our products are classified as Good, Better, or Best based on energy classification, material content, and certification.
In 2023, sales increased by 13% for water taps in the Better and Best categories.
Material Usage
The entire society needs to transition to a circular economy if we are to meet climate goals. Businesses are no exception.
- We need to take responsibility for our material usage and reduce the climate impact already in the product design phase. We achieve this by creating energy-efficient and water-saving taps, to using recycled brass in our products
- Our products are designed to last. Customers should be aware that we provide spare parts for an extended period, and in some cases, we can upgrade older taps with modern components that reduce water consumption
Waste management
We work in several ways to reduce the generation of direct and indirect waste.
- We sort our self-generated waste in our factories and offices as close to the source as possible
- We strive to decrease the amounts of waste by minimising spills and discards
- We reduce the amount of material in our packaging and transition to more sustainable materials for all our brands
In 2023, a new evaporator was commissioned at the Mora factory. This reduces the amount of liquid hazardous waste by over 90%, which both provides cost savings and reduces truck transport.
Responsible Supply Chain
A crucial aspect of our sustainability efforts is to take responsibility throughout the supply chain.
Through proactive dialogue with our suppliers, we can advocate for good working conditions, reduce the risk of human rights violations and more. We aim to ensure that our suppliers also maintain a secure and safe working environment while working to minimize their negative environmental impact.
All suppliers must sign our code of conduct for suppliers.
Nasdaq ESG
FM Mattsson AB has been certified as a Nasdaq ESG Transparency Partner 2023. Certification is awarded to companies that demonstrate a high level of market transparency in environmental, social and governance issues.

Code of Conduct
and Whistleblower Function
In our code of conduct, there are guidelines that all employees and collaborators must adhere to. It encompasses business ethics, human rights and working conditions, health and safety, information disclosure, quality, and the environment and is based on:

- The International Labour Organization’s declaration on fundamental principles and rights at work
- The OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises
- The United Nations Global Compact’s 10 principles for human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption
- The quality and environmental management systems ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

If an employee or other stakeholder believes that we are not acting in accordance with our Code of Conduct, or that our business partners are not meeting the conditions of the Code of Conduct, there is an opportunity to report this through a web form available on our website.
